The Beaverkill Valley has survived with its natural beauty intact. Its unique heritage has been conserved by stream clubs founded in the last century, by the state forest preserve, and by landowners who care.
With its habitat conserved, wildlife abounds. The bald eagle has returned. Upland game birds like ruffed grouse and wild turkey make this home while the woods sound with song birds. On the ground, the wealth of species ranges from beaver to deer to coyotes and, in the wilds, bobcat and black bear.
To aid conservation and strengthen the local economy, the Beaverkill Mountain Club was formed. The club encompasses over 70 homes on carefully planned sites, protecting thousands of acres of forest. Other properties remain, each conveyed with covenants designed to protect the quality of natural surroundings.
